Council's Annual Report informs all our stakeholders of the significant activities the Council has undertaken and the achievements of 2023 - 2024, and what we can look forward to.
Here are some key highlights:
Council is debt free and has an operating surplus of $162.6 million because of fiscally responsible spending. This means the Hills are in a strong position for the future.
We were ranked as the No.1 council area in Australia on the 2021 Index of Economic Resources.
We have approved a forward-thinking Economic Growth Plan which targets the creation of 50,000 new jobs by 2041.
In 2023-23 Council spent $308.2 million on delivering services across the Shire, renewal of existing infrastructure, and building new assets.

We manage and maintain:
1,056 km of roads across 386 square kilometres.
The Hills had the greatest increase in canopy coverage of any metropolitan council in Sydney, second only to Penrith City Council.
Tree canopy coverage in The Hills has increased by 5.6% since 2019.
In August 2023 our platypus population was spotted again at the Cattai Creek Conservation Area Reserve, Kellyville.
Many environmental initiatives such as Chemical Clean Out and E-Waste Plus events continue to be incredibly popular.
