DIAP Reference Group

The Hills Shire Council has a Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) Reference Group.

The aim of the group is to provide recommendations to Council that will:

  • Facilitate the creation of a welcoming community
  • Ensure services, infrastructure and community facilities are more accessible

The focus is to enhance the participation and engagement of individuals with diverse abilities. Thus, ensuring that everyone feels valued and respected.

These recommendations are aimed at supporting Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2026.

DIAP Reference Group Members:

Belinda Colombrita

Belinda is the CEO of a disability support provider in the Hills Shire and has over 20 years professional experience in the sector.

She has a passion for ensuring that people with disability are included in every aspect of community life.

 

Ellen Witzlsperger

Ellen is the CEO of a not-for-profit disability organisation in the Hills Shire and has over 16 years professional experience in the sector. 

She is passionate about seeing all members of our community, including those with disability, be able to meaningfully participate and contribute towards the community.

 

Sarika Shasidharan

Sarika is a landscape architect with experience in designing inclusive parks and play spaces for the community.

She is passionate about ensuring people with disability can benefit from the services Council offer.

 

Julie Charlton

Julie has been working in the disability advocacy space for 16 years and in disability sport for over 10 years.

Julie is a member of the Disability Council of NSW and the Physical Disability Council NSW. She was also the Sydney Hills Youth Ambassador in 2021. Julie is an elite para athlete and coach who competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Her passion is to work towards an inclusive future for everyone. 

 

Eve Foxman

Eve has professional experience supporting people with disability in the workforce and supporting employment opportunities for people with disability as well as lived experience personally and as a carer.

She has a passion for improving accessibility and opportunities for people with disability in The Hills Shire. She is also passionate about being an advocate for those with disability to be supported, considered, respected and granted accessibility. 

 

Peta Kennedy

Peta is an early intervention educator working with children and families with disability and also has personal experiences as a carer. She is currently studying a graduate certificate in autism.

Peta is passionate about removing inequity and lack of access for all people with disability.
