The Hills Shire Council Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is a collective roadmap for the future of our community. It captures our community’s vision, aspirations and goals for the local area looking out to 2050.

‘Towards Hills 2050’ guides the development of Council plans, policies and budget by identifying key social, economic, environmental and civic priorities, as well as strategies to help achieve them.

The Community Strategic Plan addresses four key questions for the community:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where do we want to be in ten years’ time?
  • How will we get there?
  • How will we know we have succeeded?

About ‘Towards Hills 2050’

Councils formally shape their priorities and activities around community strategic plans – these are the documents that reflect the community’s vision for The Hills Shire.

The purpose of ‘Towards Hills 2050’ is to bring the community’s aspirations for The Hills to life. This plan aims to clarify the different roles in shaping the kind of place where we live and sets out the expectations that you should have of Council.

It helps Council to plan to manage significant growth over the next 10 years and beyond – especially when we know the population will increase by more than 50% between now and 2050.

  • It will shape the more effective transport connections we need, so that less of us are caught every day in traffic congestion.
  • It will help us to plan and budget for the right community facilities that are essential to a growing population.
  • It will also help us to maintain an attractive built and natural environment as housing densities increase in different parts of The Shire.

‘Towards Hills 2050’ aims to address the challenges we face in the Hills Shire and make the very most of the opportunities that we have here.

The Community Strategic Plan is a collaborative effort between Council, the community, businesses and organisations across The Hills Shire.

We all have a stake in building a vibrant community and quality of life for everyone across The Hills Shire.
