Councils are required under Section 402A of the Local Government Act 1993 (the Act) to have a comprehensive community engagement strategy in place to ensure that the views of affected persons and (where relevant) the community as a whole are considered in Council decision-making.
Public forums at Council and Committee Meetings are not an appropriate substitute for effective community consultation and engagement. Councils also need to be mindful that the views expressed at public forums will not necessarily be representative of the views of other affected parties or the broader community.
As outlined in Council’s adopted Code of Meeting Practice, Council may hold a public forum; however, there are no public forums scheduled, and instead, your feedback can be provided to Council by email and phone contact.
Council’s contact details can be found here.
