Privacy Statement

The protection of personal information is provided in the:

Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act, 1998

Council does hold certain personal information. For example ratepayers' names and addresses.

In certain situations, Council may disclose personal information that it holds.

This is usually in relation to:

  • the reasons for which the information was collected or
  • for other statutory or lawful functions of other Government agencies.

Certain information held by Council is regarded as 'public registers'.

Public registers are open to inspection pursuant to a variety of legislation.

Data Breaches

Our Data Breach Policy outlines Council’s approach to complying with the NSW Government’s Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) Scheme, as established under Part 6A of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW). This includes the roles and responsibilities for reporting data breaches and strategies for containing, assessing, and managing eligible data breaches.

Data Breach Public Notification Register

Details of the public notification for any eligible data breach within the past 12 months under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) (PPIP Act) will be listed below.

A public notification is provided when it is not reasonably practicable to notify any or all of the individuals affected by the breach directly. A breach may also be voluntarily disclosed by Council, even if all impacted individuals are notified separately.
