Request New Waste Service

Council will be pleased to provide a set of bins to your new home.

Step 1.Fees

The standard urban service for a new home costs $500* per annum and includes:

  • 1 x 140 litre garbage bin (red lid)
  • 1 x 240 litre recycling bin (yellow lid)
  • 1 x 240 litre garden organics bin (green lid)

Please note that the standard three bin system comes as a set, and new services cannot be ordered without the yellow lid recycling bin and green lid garden organics bin.

Additional Waste Services**

If an additional waste service is required, it must come as a set with a garbage bin (red lid) and a recycling bin (yellow lid). Adding a garden organics bin (green lid) to this set is optional (urban residents only).

Secondary Dwellings/Granny Flats and Dual Occupancies

Properties with a granny flat can share bins with the primary dwelling, or a separate service can be requested at the discretion of the property owner. Dual occupancies require a separate standard service.

Standard Rural Service

The standard rural service for a new home costs $490* per annum and includes:

  • 1 x 240 litre garbage bin (red lid)
  • 1 x 240 litre recycling bin (yellow lid)

Please note that a garden organics bin (green lid) is not provided to rural properties. 

 

*Please note the fees quoted are only valid between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024 and that fees are subject to review each financial year.

All charges are per annum and the relevant fee will be applied to your Rates from the date the bins are supplied. The waste charge will be amended and reflected in an updated rates notice which will be sent to your preferred contact address.

Step 2.Your 'Moving-in' date

New service requests should not be made earlier than 2 working days before moving in as bins are typically delivered on the nature strip within 2 working days and need to be wheeled into the property boundary the same day the bins are delivered.

 

Step 3.Standard-sized red-lidded bin

It is recommended that you initially order the standard-sized red-lidded bin as the vast majority of residents find the weekly 140 litre garbage bin (red lid) service adequate for their household needs and it is the most cost-effective option.

If after a few months of receiving your new bin service you find that your household does require a larger service, you can then request a 240 litre garbage bin (red lid) for an additional $130 per annum (2023 – 2024 charge subject to review each financial year).
