New shade sails for Livvi’s Place

Livvi’s Place continues to be a top destination for Hills families after Council installed shade sails over the recently built all-abilities playground.
Three new brightly coloured shade cloths were built to provide much-needed shade over the water play area and another two were constructed over the playground.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said the response to the new structures had been really positive.
“We had an extremely hot summer and after much feedback, Council sought to install further shade sails at this extremely popular playground,” Mayor Byrne said.
“The shade sails will provide coverage for the playground and water play equipment, as well as enhance the park’s overall appearance.
“We need to ensure our youngest residents and their parents or guardians are safe and protected from our harsh sun, and the new structures do just that. They keep the equipment cooler in the warmer months and allow for year-round use of this much-loved facility,” Mayor Byrne added.
This update comes after the popular park, which celebrates the ability of all children, opened in September, last year.
The new and improved playground boasts a water play area, rope climb, a tunnel, sensory musical play equipment, a basket swing, mini-trampolines and so much more. The original playground still remains, allowing kids to use every aspect of the public park.
It is also fully fenced, with wide and accessible pathways, allowing easier access to those wanting to use the recreational facility.
The Livvi’s Place playground design was created in consultation with children, their parents, disability service providers and residents.
Council provided funds for the project, while working closely with the Touched by Olivia Foundation on designs and potential sponsorship opportunities.
The Livvi’s Place playground is part of the Bernie Mullane Reserve Masterplan.
