North Kellyville playground opened – in time for the school holidays

The rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits as McMillian Circuit Reserve was opened on Friday, July 1.
It’s the latest playground with a kick-about space and stormwater management basin to be opened in the growing suburb of North Kellyville.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said he wanted the playground to be open to children and residents ahead of the winter school holidays.
“The Hills Shire Council is proud to open our newest play space in North Kellyville, especially as children embark on a two-week school holiday break,” Mayor Gangemi said.
“This is a growing area, and Council is working very hard to provide more playground options for people who reside here.
“I believe McMillian Circuit Reserve will be become a destination for families and residents, as well as an ideal place where they can keep active, socialise with others and enjoy the great outdoors,” Mayor Gangemi added.
The playground features a play unit with slide, as well as multiple climbing structures and a swing set. It also includes a large grass area where people can enjoy a picnic or play outdoor games.
Meanwhile, the stormwater management basin was installed as part of integrated stormwater management controls across North Kellyville. The basin will help in the prevention of downstream flooding and allows biological processes to remove pollutants from stormwater run-off before entering the natural watercourse.
In addition to McMillian Circuit Reserve, Council approved tenders to build more stormwater basins in North Kellyville - one at Deepwater Circuit Reserve and another at Kumbatine Crescent Reserve - during a recent Ordinary Meeting of Council. Work will also commence on another at Springbrook Boulevard Reserve. When complete, all three reserves will incorporate kick-about areas and playgrounds to the adjoining stormwater management basins to enable the spaces to be used for recreation.
Stormwater management basins are also under construction at Lansdowne Road Reserve and Indwarra Avenue Reserve, in North Kellyville, and are anticipated to be open later this year, weather permitting.
Barry Road Reserve, located in North Kellyville, also features a stormwater management basin, kick about play space and playground, was completed earlier in June.
