Rouse Hill Town Centre will host the first-ever ‘Hills Illuminate’ in partnership with The Hills Shire Council this December.
The Summer Series event will be one of Sydney’s largest Christmas-themed outdoor experiences and attendees can visit from December 2 to December 23.
Rouse Hill Town Centre’s Regional General Manager, Dave Moreton, said a highlight of the nightly show is the huge inflatable light installation and interactive artworks projected onto illuminated cubes throughout Rouse Hill Town Centre.
“We are excited to host one of Sydney’s largest and most unique Christmas lights events,” Mr Moreton said.
“We expect this festive season at Rouse Hill Town Centre will be even more magical when the lights are turned on for Hills Illuminate.”
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said Hills Illuminate was the perfect way to celebrate the most wonderful time of year, with the Centre set to look more spectacular than ever.
“I can’t think of a better way to begin celebrations for the festive season,” Mayor Byrne said.
“You will be treated to a spectacular light show which will come to life with music and moving projected images which will surely get you into the Christmas spirit.
“I encourage you all to come down to Hills Illuminate, spread some cheer and enjoy a truly unmissable experience,” Mayor Byrne added.
Hills Illuminate will launch on Saturday December 2 with a countdown, pyrotechnics show, pop-up food trucks, live entertainment and the Sydney Boutique markets on Main Street.
The installation will be switched on by Rouse Hill Town Centre’s Regional General Manager, Dave Moreton, and Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne.
There will be lots of family-friendly free entertainment on the night, including face painters, kids rides, a DJ, pop-up shops, and free parking for the night.
The centrepiece of the three week event will be the eight by eight metre inflatable cube in Market Square, which comes to life with music and live projections at night.
The illuminated cube will be at the heart of a pop-up precinct in Market Square, which will include street festival-style food trucks and music.
Music and entertainment will add to the Centre’s festive atmosphere, with an Instagram selfie frame to capture your best #lightupthehills photo.
The Town Centre will feature an interactive light installation where the community can create the projections from the control boards.
As part of Hills Illuminate, visitors to Rouse Hill Town Centre will be able to create their own artworks using a paintbrush and keyboard to create a visual and musical masterpiece. This installation, called Lumifonica, will allow visitors to play and interact with a real-time reflection of their creativity.
A free series of children’s Christmas art workshops will be held at the centre in the lead-up to the event. Some of the art created at these workshops will be projected onto a three by three metre ‘gift box’ light installation in the Woolworths Quad, and the other in the Coles Quad during Hills Illuminate.
Rouse Hill Town Centre is located 35km north-west of the Sydney CBD along Windsor Road in Rouse Hill. The Centre combines the traditional values and streetscape of a contemporary market town with the latest in shopping, dining and entertainment, and has set a new standard for sustainable retail developments.
