February 14 isn’t just a day for couples anymore with Library Lovers’ Day taking place on the same day as Valentine’s Day!

The day is a chance for residents to reconnect with their local library and share their love for the community facility.

This year, The Hills Shire Library Service is encouraging library-goers to profess their love for literature by penning a love letter to their local library in the lead up to Library Lovers’ Day.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said our libraries provide so much for the community and they deserve to receive a little bit of love in return this Valentine’s Day.

“I discovered my love for reading at my local library when I was younger and I’m forever grateful that the library sparked this life-long interest of mine,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Libraries provide a safe space for so many people, as well as a social and educational hub for the community to make use of.

“I’ve written my love letter to my local library and I encourage everyone else to do the same! I can’t wait to read all the great things people have to say about our libraries,” Mayor Byrne added.

Participants have until February 21 to hand in a hard copy of their library love letter at the front desk of their local library.

Get involved on social media by using the hashtags #librarylove and #libraryloversday.
