The Hills Shire Council strives to maintain the standards of Council buildings and facilities.

The Hills Shire Council encourages residents to report any acts of vandalism to Council buildings and facilities such as:

  • roads
  • footpaths
  • bus shelters
  • community venues
  • parks
  • reserves
  • residential fencing


Report Vandalism to Council Property

Vandalism to Council property can be reported to the 24-hour number 02 9843 0555.

Council property includes:

  • council parks
  • council reserves
  • community buildings

Calls outside of business hours will go to the Council after hours emergency contact.

Residents who call the line will be asked to identify themselves and provide a contact number.

There will be specific questions about the incident such as:

  • a description of the incident
  • the location
  • if the offender has left
  • if it is currently occurring
  • if someone is needed to attend

Private Land

Step 2.Removing Graffiti from Private Land

Council will only remove graffiti from private property if it is accessible from public land.

If the incident is an emergency or occurring now, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

 

You can also report intentional damage or graffiti to Service NSW via this online reporting form.

 

Or via the NSW Police Community Portal.

 

You can report graffiti by calling the Graffiti Hotline on 1800 707 125 (between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday).

 

 

Reward for Information

Council has introduced a ‘reward for information’ scheme. This encourages the community to report incidents. This is an attempt to reduce vandalism and damage to community assets. 

 

Under the scheme, there will be a reward for information. This will lead to a criminal proceeding resulting in:

  • Conviction
  • Formal caution or warning
  • Juvenile justice conference where guilt has been found or admitted 

 

The reward offered is equal to the cost of repairing the damage. There is a maximum amount of $5,000 per incident which is subject to a cap of $20,000 per year. 

 

You may be required to:

  • Attend a police station
  • Make a formal statement
  • Appear in Court to give evidence
