Connecting local communities

A bridge that will link the North Kellyville and Rouse Hill communities could soon be built over Smalls Creek.
Council voted to forward a planning proposal, which would amend the Local Environmental Plan 2012 to facilitate a planned road and bridge across Smalls Creek from Edwards Road in Rouse Hill to Ross Place in North Kellyville, to the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment for finalisation.
“North Kellyville, Box Hill and Rouse Hill are new communities undergoing massive growth and change, and this new bridge and road connection will help to ease traffic congestion and improve safety in the area, as well as provide an essential link between these communities,” Mayor of the Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said.
“This new route has also been identified as a ‘key’ regional bus link by the State Government, and will provide residents with another public transport option," she added.
As part of the recommendations, Council has also requested that the Minister of Planning endorse draft amendments to Contributions Plan No.13 – North Kellyville Precinct, which will enable Council to levy development for the acquisition of the identified road corridor.
“This plan needs to be finalised and approved as soon as possible with the funds to be allocated so works can begin,” Mayor Byrne said.
“It’s essential for the future of these areas and to help our residents get to their destinations safely.”
