Vision

The Hills Youth Army (HYA) aims to involve youth in their community through:

  • volunteer initiatives
  • community participation and
  • connections with other youth worldwide

About

Founded in 2014 the Hills Youth Army empowers young people living in The Hills aged 15 - 24.

This is through various volunteering opportunities within their local community.

The HYA aims to connect young people and Council. In this way they become more involved in their community through ‘service to others’.

This helps develop their social awareness, leadership and problem-solving skills. It also increases community engagement on what matters the most to our youth.

Since then, The Hills Youth Army has supported community events within the Shire such as:

  • Orange Blossom Festival
  • Garage Sale Trail
  • Paws in the Park
  • Hills Relay for Life
  • Mental Health Campaigns
  • The Mayoral Sleep-out and
  • Australia Day

Youth Week 2022 - Basketball Comp

The Hills Shire Council was proud to have partnered with Hills Hornets, Hillsong, Youth Rezolutions and Saints Care, and the Castle Hill Police Local Area Command to bring you the 'Youth Week 3 on 3 Basketball Comp'. This year's theme ‘It’s up to YOUth’ couldn’t have been more accurate with nearly 20 teams coming from all over the Shire to participate, taking up the challenge to play off for the top spot.

Youth Week 2022 - Skateboarding Workshop

The Hills Shire Council was grateful to have Totem Skateboarding ‘on-board’ again this year to deliver workshops at our Balcombe Heights Estate skateboarding facilities.
