About the Project

The Hills Shire Council is upgrading the intersection of Cattai Ridge Road and Halcrows Road, Glenorie.

Cattai Ridge Road is a rural road that runs generally east/west, connecting with Old Northern Road to the east and Maraylya to the west. Halcrows Road intersects with Cattai Ridge Road and extends to the northwest, connecting with Wisemans Ferry Road.

The intersection upgrade will improve safety, traffic management and the general level of service for road users. This will be achieved by reconfiguring the centrelines of each road and associated road adjustment work to provide a more perpendicular intersection angle.

The existing priority control where traffic on Halcrows Road must Give Way to traffic on Cattai Ridge Road will remain the same. The reconfigured intersection will minimise conflict and provide clear guidance for manoeuvring by ensuring clearer visibility including upgraded lighting, improved sight lines, lane widths & road marking markings

Redesign of the intersection was undertaken to improve safety at the intersection.

Construction work includes:

Establishment of temporary construction compounds and accommodation required to build the Works.
Temporary traffic management, including the installation of barriers, reduce speed zones and other features to ensure worker and road user safety.
Adjustments to existing utilities, including:

Endeavour Energy electrical and streetlighting.
Telecommunication Services.
Sydney Water Infrastructure.

Vegetation clearing and excavation of existing road pavement.
Construction of new road pavement, median island, guardrail and guide posts, new line marking and signposting.
Landscaping.

The contract has been awarded to DSA Contracting Pty Ltd, and construction is scheduled to commence in February 2025 and expected to be completed by mid-2025. The timeframe completion is dependent on the relocation of the service utilities as this activity involves coordination with each of the individual service utility provider and their contractors. Progress is also susceptible to wet weather delays.

Work will generally be carried out Monday to Saturday from 7am to 5pm. Some night work may be necessary to deliver oversized construction vehicles and equipment. Night work may occur for service utility relocation work where it crosses the road.
