The new-look, totally refurbished Dural Library was officially reopened by the Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, State Member for Castle Hill and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier and Western Sydney, Ray Williams MP and Manager of Public Library Services at the State Library of NSW, Cameron Morley on Monday, June 17.
The local library opened after a six week renovation, which saw the community space transformed into a more modern and versatile facility.
Mayor Byrne said she was very excited about the changes and invited residents to come and explore the new-look library during the Family Fun Day event on Saturday, June 22, from 10am.
“This is a new chapter for Dural Library,” Mayor Byrne said.
“We’ve created a more modern and user-friendly community space where people can learn and collaborate together.
“Thank you to the NSW Government and The Library Council of NSW for their generous contribution, which has been used to create a truly welcoming facility which can be enjoyed by all,” Mayor Byrne added.
Mr Williams said he was thrilled with the results.
“The NSW Government is committed to working with local Councils to enhance library services and facilities across the state, and I was delighted that Dural Library was selected to receive $93,240 from the NSW Government’s $1 million Metropolitan Public Library Grant,” he said.
“This funding has assisted Council in making this much-loved local library advance and evolve to meet our community’s needs.”
The scope of work included updating the reading and learning spaces, laying down new carpet, as well as adding in new shelving and contemporary blinds.
Plus, the library has had a paint lift, and a reading nook and new ergonomic furniture were also added as part of renovation works.
Dural Library renovation was made possible thanks to a $93,240 grant from the NSW Government and The Library Council of NSW. Council also contributed $160,000 towards the work.
