The long awaited Arnold Avenue Reserve Sporting Complex is officially open.

The new facility includes two sports fields, two netball courts, a children’s playground and an amenities building.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said she understands there is a real need for more sporting fields in The Hills, and the opening of this outdoor recreational facility helps to address the issue.

“This is not just a mown paddock. It is sophisticated infrastructure that meets a variety of recreational and sporting needs, and serves a growing population,” Mayor Byrne said

“We know our Shire is growing at a phenomenal rate and that’s why Council is working so hard now to prepare for the growth that’s coming in the next 10 to 15 years.

“We are doing everything we can to help our local sporting clubs as they grow, as well as become a more fit, healthy and active Shire.

“The sporting fields and netball courts at Arnold Avenue Reserve fill a much needed gap in the local community and they will be enjoyed by residents for generations to come,” Mayor Byrne added.

General Manager of Hills Football Association, Kurt Johnson said he was pleased to see the project completed.

“The Arnold Avenue Sporting Complex will provide much needed greenspace to both the Hills Spirit Football Club and the wider football community of the Hills,” Mr Johnson said.

“The new facility will enable further football programs to be run in both the winter and summer seasons.

“New facilities mean the local community has the ability to participate in organised sport that provides overall benefits to the wellbeing of our community,” he added.

Rouse Hill Rams Cricket Club President, John Kozumplik echoed similar sentiments.

“Rouse Hill Rams Cricket Club is a club on the rise with increasing member numbers each season, and to have a quality facility in Arnold Avenue to provide a sporting venue for our players and members of the community is priceless,” Mr Kozumplik said.

“With increasing housing developments in The Hills Shire we will see player numbers increasing and every new field means we can accommodate another 48 junior and senior members.”

Nagle Hills Spirit Netball Club Life Member, Emma Burgess added:

“Arnold Avenue sporting complex has allowed Nagle Hills Spirit Netball club to grow in a new area and secure our roots as a Hills club,” she said.

“Our wonderful members now have access to brand new facilities which enables our coaches to develop the skills of our players whilst ensuring a joyful and family orientated atmosphere is maintained.”
