To celebrate Seniors Festival 2024, Council is hosting FREE events for seniors.
Navigating Council Services Online
When: Tuesday, 12 March 2024 from 10:30am - 1pm
Where: Rebellion room, Castle Hill Cultural Centre (Pioneer Theatre)
Learn how to better use Council’s online systems. The Community Development team have partnered with other teams within Council to deliver a workshop for seniors on how to access Council’s digital resources and maximise their online engagement.
The objective of this event is to enhance connection to residents and access to online services by:
- Highlighting key aspects of navigating the Council website
- Connecting with a core group of senior residents and encouraging them to support their peers in navigating online services
- Creating an opportunity to build relationships amongst residents and Council representatives.
Staff from Customer Services team, Library services and Rates team will guide attendees through navigating key Council functions and accessing digital services including addressing frequent queries, how to access e-pathway, receiving rates online and digital library services.
When: Thursday, 14 March 2024 at 9:30am for 10am screening
Where: Event Cinemas, Castle Towers
For several years now, Council has organised a free movie session for seniors at Event Cinemas, Castle Towers.
It has become an event that the senior’s community have come to enjoy and expect from us. There will be complimentary popcorn, a choc top and bottled water.
The film chosen for this year is Next Goal Wins and Mayor Gangemi will give a short speech to the audience before it commences.
Aqua Aerobics Exercises

Council offers a free aqua aerobics exercise class at Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre as part of our efforts to help keep our seniors’ community active and fit. Aqua aerobics is a low impact exercise that helps improve coordination, control, and range of movement.
The Hills community is fortunate to have an exceptional facility at Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre where seniors can enjoy exercising and socialising with others.

Seniors Retirement Seminar
When: Thursday, 21 March 2024 from 10am - 1pm
Where: Baulkham Hills Community Centre
This workshop addresses the challenges and emotions commonly experienced by retirees, aiming to equip them with strategies for maximizing long-term retirement satisfaction.
It will explore four key topics:
- Maintaining physical and mental well-being
- Engaging in fulfilling pursuits like hobbies and relationships
- Adapting to change
- Fostering a positive life philosophy centred around purpose and meaning
The session aims to guide retirees towards discovering purpose, engaging in activities that bring joy, and fostering connections within their communities.
The workshop will be delivered by Arthur Thomas Ware and Peter Graham discussing things such as:
- Expectation vs Reality
- Understanding Retirement
- How to meet the Challenges
- Critical issues in Retirement
Please note that this workshop will not focus on financial aspects, but rather on holistic approaches that will support upcoming and newly retired seniors in optimising various aspects of their lives.
Arthur Thomas Ware, who started a YouTube video documenting his retirement journey, has garnered over 187,000 views and is enthusiastic about sharing his experiences and insights on post-retirement life. Tom is keen to connect with seniors, offering guidance to help them make the most of their retirement years.

Reach Beyond Seniors Expo
When: Friday, 15 March 2024 from 10am - 1pm
Where: Market Square, Rouse Hill Town Centre
The Seniors Week stall holder expo in the Hills is a collaborative effort involving Council, Rouse Hill Town Centre, and various local organisations.
It is an opportunity for seniors to learn about what services are on offer to them within The Hills Shire. It also offers a space for seniors to meet and socialise with each other to create stronger bonds within the community.
The active participation of local businesses at Rouse Hill Town Centre and community organisations in the Hills makes this as our first event in the North Ward especially to our local seniors.
Their involvement goes beyond just supporting seniors in expressing themselves; it also strengthens the sense of community and connection.
The Seniors Week exhibition is a collaborative celebration that highlights the community centric approach of everyone in the Hills.
