The Hills Shire Council is proud to support a number of activities for young people across the Shire during Youth Week 2023.

Youth Week Events

Outdoor Cinema + Youth Festival

1:00pm - 4:00pm Tuesday, 18 April | Aub Juleff Arena, Castle Hill Showground

Organised by Youth Rezolutions, Outdoor Cinema + Youth Festival: An opportunity for young people to come together and raise awareness on an important issue of youth homelessness.

Join the festival with everything FREE, such as:

  • Outdoor Cinema - Blockbuster movie screening;
  • Entertainment on the big screen;
  • Free food and drinks;
  • Free activity stalls;
  • Outdoor gym;
  • Photobooth;
  • Popcorn;
  • Airbrush tattoos;
  • Ice cream truck;
  • and more!

This event is targeted to 12-25 year olds.

This event is drug and alcohol free.

Hills Community Aid - Family Fun Day!

10:00am - 1:00pm Thursday, 20 April |Balcombe Heights Estate, Turner Buildings Carpark

Youth Week Family Fun Day filled with free activities for the family including a treasure hunt, information stalls, jumping castle and more.

Sunrise Rotary will provide a sausage sizzle and Hills Daily Grind coffee van will be available for purchase.

Youth, Get Moving! 3x3 Basketball Competition

1:00pm - 4:00pm Friday, 21 April | Bernie Mullane Sports Complex

Join us for Youth Week sporting fun with Hills Hornets at Bernie Mullane Sports Complex.

These fantastic activities are available to all abilities, all genders and are suitable for ages 12-24 years. 

  • Get your team of 3 together and bring your A game for a fantastic basketball competition. (Okay, it's actually up to four players to a team - so you can have a sub).
  • Register yourself individually and on the day, you can group up with your friends to create a team, but make sure each player has their own registered ticket!
  • By all abilities, we mean just that - seasoned players, first timers, wheelchair users... everyone!
  • You’ll need to bring your ticket, appropriate shoes to play basketball in and adequate water (there is a food outlet onsite).
  • Stick around and watch the winners play off against the Castle Hill Police team!

How to get there: Limited parking is available onsite otherwise there are plenty of public transport options - check out Transport Info.

Conditions of Entry: This event is alcohol, drug and smoke free with a zero tolerance policy. We reserve the right to conduct bag checks. Please note, there are no cloaking facilities at the event.

By registering to attend this event, you are also agreeing to comply with the Conditions of Entry to Bernie Mullane Sports Complex.

This event will operate under the NSW Public Health Orders in place at the time of the event. Participation is at your own risk. If you are unwell, please do not attend.

Youth Skate Jam!

3:00pm - 6:00pm Thursday, 27 April | Crestwood Reserve Skatepark

Come along to Crestwood Reserve Skatepark to attend our FREE Mentoring Workshop thanks to The Hills Shire Council and NSW Youth Week.

This workshop is for ages 12 to 24 years.

There will be FREE giveaways and BBQ onsite whilst enjoying the skate session!

Equipment: Professional grade equipment; skateboard, helmet, and safety pads are provided for all classes. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

3pm - 3:15pm : Mentoring session registration

3:15 pm - 4:15 pm: Mentoring session (1hr class. Suitable for skill level 2 to 3.)

4:15 pm - 5:45pm: Self Expression jam session - Skate and Scooter (Open to all ages . Suitable for skill level 2 to 3)

5:45pm - 6 pm: Demo and Community Interaction

Art Therapy

10:00am - 12:00pm Saturday, 29 April | Vinegar Hill Memorial Library & Community Centre, Level 2

Come and join us for some relaxing art therapy!

This workshop is a space for young people to process any difficulties they have been facing and will focus on how we can look after our emotional and mental wellbeing.

Participants will have the opportunity to use a variety of art mediums during this time to explore what they want from their council and their hopes through art and writing.

The workshop will be facilitated by three accredited counsellors from Uniting Counselling and Meditation.

Suitable for ages 10-15 years

What to bring: Your ticket and your artistic imagination!

Youth Goes Live!

1:00pm - 4:00pm Saturday, 29 April | Rouse Hill Town Centre

Come and join us in Market Square at Rouse Hill Town Centre. There will be several feature stands and a stage program such as open mic and public speaking. The program will also include the introduction of The Hills' 2023/2024 Youth Ambassadors.

If you would like to participate on the day and showcase your talents, please fill out one of the relevant expression of interest forms linked below.

There will be music and entertainment with a local DJ. Free services and merchandise from youth groups will also be available.
