Australia Day Awards 2020
Nominations are now open for The Hills Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne is encouraging residents to nominate a deserving community member for The Hills Shire Australia Day Honours Awards.
“Australia Day is a time for us to reflect on what makes us proud to be Australian and appreciate all of our nation’s strengths and qualities,” Mayor Byrne said.
“It’s also a time to pay tribute to those unsung heroes in our community who give generously of their time and strive to create a beautiful, welcoming and inclusive environment.
“We need your help to recognise and award the people and groups that you believe make The Hills Shire the best place to live, work, play, grow and raise a family,” Mayor Byrne added.
Council will present awards in four categories:
- Senior Citizen of the Year (65 years of age and older)
- Citizen of the Year (25 – 65 years of age)
- Young Citizen of the Year (24 years and under)
- Community Group of the Year
- Environmental Citizen of the Year
Nominations for The Hills Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards close Friday, 22 November 2019.
Applications must include a brief explanation on what makes your nominee an outstanding community member, how they are role models for others to follow or how they have excelled or contributed to the greater Hills Shire community.
Finalists of the 2020 awards will be announced in the lead-up to Australia Day 2020.
Nominees must be residents of Hills Shire local government area.
