Join the Library

Joining the library is free to all NSW residents. Please read the conditions of use before joining.

To join the library please visit one of our library branches in person and follow steps 1-3 listed below. Non-Hills NSW residents must visit a library to join (they cannot join using the online method) and will then be given access to our online library resources. 

Residents of the Hills Shire can join the library online for access to eResources only such as eBooks and eAudiobooks (residents of The Hills Shire only). Click here to join the library online.

Visit to Join

Step 1.Prepare identification

Two forms of identification are required to join the library. One must include proof of a current NSW address, such as a driver's licence, rates notice or utility account.

 

Step 2.Visit us to complete registration

Visit one of our library branches to join. Applicants under the age of 18 will be required to fill out a registration form signed by a parent/guardian.

Please note: For anyone under the age of 18 two forms of identification of a parent/guardian must be presented.

Step 3.After joining the library

Once you have completed registration, library staff will give you your library card and you can then start to use the library resources

Please note: 

  • Your membership card is needed every time you borrow or use a library computer
  • You can store your library card number in the library app
  • Members can borrow up to ten items per membership card
  • Items from the library service can be returned to any branch of The Hills Shire Library Service
  • After hours return chutes are provided at all branches
  • You can access online resources with your library card number and PIN
