The Hills Shire Council has selected the architecture firm, project management group and quantity surveyor to prepare a detailed concept plan for the Waves Aquatic Centre renewal project.
During the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Tuesday, February 26, tenders were awarded to the following firms:
- Architectural services: NBRS Partners Pty Ltd
- Project Management: Turner & Townsend Thinc Pty Ltd
- Quantity Surveyor: Donald Cant Watts Corke Pty Ltd
“Council is very excited to have appointed three key professional services to help deliver a brand-new pool facility right here in The Hills,” Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said.
“Because of our prudent financial management, our commitment to the community and our wish to see The Hills remain an active place where residents can enjoy a range of sports and leisure activities, we are delivering an asset which will serve the community for decades to come.
“We understand there will be unavoidable inconvenience for some when the facility temporarily closes down for building works, but we believe that we will be delivering an asset that can be used by our children’s children.
“I thank everyone who has provided constructive feedback on the project so far and I can’t wait to see these plans come to fruition,” she added.
Waves has served its purpose over a 51-year period, however the current facility is aging and requires renewal.
“Council will continue to work with residents, user groups and members during this time, to understand the needs and wants of the community and how to achieve the best possible outcome for everyone,” Mayor Byrne added.
