A fantastic new sea-themed mural by local artist Samuel Kim has completed the party room at Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre - now ready for pool party fun!

Diving dolphins, colourful sea creatures and a cheeky octopus are all part of an original artwork that adorns the walls, creating a fun, exciting new place for parties.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, said the artwork was commissioned to transform the room into a place where memories are created.

“Waves is fast becoming a favourite place for families. With its fabulous mural on the walls and monster splash pad right outside, we’ve created the best new party space in The Hills,” he said.

“Sam’s wonderful mural will make every party a special occasion.”

Samuel Kim, known as artist ‘Sam Absurd’, said the mural took three days to create and was inspired by the aquatic environment.

"I have been creating large scale murals for over 10 years, continuously honing my style and skill set to transform spaces and bring fresh energy to public spaces,” Samuel said.

“This new mural at Waves was a collaborative concept derived together with the team at Waves to represent Australia's ocean life and the facility's connection to the water and health,” he added.

Parties can be held at Waves on Saturdays and Sundays for a minimum of 10 children with catering arranged through the on-site café. All parties include two-hour use of the party room plus unlimited play in the splash pad and indoor pools.
