The Hills Shire Council is encouraging residents to get involved with National Tree Day on Sunday 28th July by volunteering to plant native plants at Caddies Creek Reserve Sports Complex, in Kellyville.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne is calling on residents to make a positive contribution to their local community by joining her during the nationally recognised event, between 9am and noon.

“This fantastic initiative is just one of the many ways we’re working to sustain our wonderful Hills Shire environment,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Taking care of our local environment means looking after our green corridors and the wildlife that inhabit them.

“It’s also a great opportunity to connect with other likeminded community members, as well as assist in regenerating and beautifying a much loved Hills reserve for all to enjoy,” Mayor Byrne added.

National Tree Day is an initiative run by Planet Ark and Toyota Australia.

All volunteers participating in the tree planting will need to come prepared with sunscreen, hat and gloves.

A barbecue and refreshments will be available on the day.
