The Gables could be The Hills’ newest suburb

After consultation with residents, The Hills Shire Council will forward a proposal to the Geographical Names Board (GNB) to officially approve a new Hills Shire suburb, called ‘The Gables’.
The proposal seeks to create a new suburb between Box Hill and Maraylya (which includes properties fronting the eastern side of Janpieter Road), as well as realign the boundary between Rouse Hill and Box Hill.
“More and more people are moving into The Hills each day, especially into the new housing estates located in Rouse Hill, Box Hill and in Box Hill North,” Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said.
“Our proposal to the GNB seeks to create a new suburb that reflects the growth of the area, as well as acknowledge that the Box Hill North region is a distinct community from the Box Hill release area to the south and the rural residential areas of Maraylya.
“Following our submission to the GNB, we will continue discussions with residents, businesses and other key stakeholders on the outcome,” Mayor Byrne added.
