The Hills Shire Council has thanked more than 1000 of its volunteers during a special National Volunteer Week ceremony.

Over the course of 12–months, Council’s dedicated volunteer base contributed to approximately 100,000 hours of service to help deliver important services and programs.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said Council is extremely grateful for the work volunteers do in the community.

“Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for their wonderful efforts and ongoing contributions to The Hills Shire,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Our volunteers are one of the most valuable resources in our region and it’s thanks to them that we can continue to build on our reputation as one of the best places in the state to live, grow, do business and raise a family.

“With their ongoing help and support, Council can more readily and effectively achieve the goals we have set out to achieve,” she added.

Volunteers support the Hills Shire across a range of services including:

  • Justices of the Peace;
  • English Conversation Group volunteers, The Friends of the Hills Library and library volunteers;
  • The Hills Youth Army and Youth Ambassadors;
  • The Friends of Bella Vista Farm;
