On Thursday 30 May, Council welcomed over 35 high school students to participate in Speaking 4 The Planet, an event which provides an opportunity for students to engage in and speak about environmental issues.

The event celebrated World Environment Day 2019 and was supported by the Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne who believes in the importance of public speaking and being environmentally conscious.

“Speaking 4 The Planet is a great initiative which allows young people to talk about what the environment means to them, while developing their public speaking abilities,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Events such as Speaking 4 The Planet are important in giving young people the chance to discuss issues close to their heart, as well as taking in different viewpoints and ideas.”
