The Hills Shire Council’s Castle Grand revitalisation project is on track, with works well and truly underway to complete the new theatre and renovated rooms in the second half of 2018.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said she was happy with the work completed so far and is pleased to announce that the project is running to schedule.

“So far, we’ve removed the old timber flooring and carpet and demolished the existing offices to make way for a box office. New steel support beams and a grid system for hanging lights and sound equipment has been installed, the operable wall has been updated and sound insulation has been added into the wall panels,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Currently, we are painting the rooms and foyer, installing AV equipment and curtains, working on the fit-out in the change rooms and laundry and constructing a new customer service area.

“We will soon be installing new seating for the new theatre, which can be retracted when the room is being used for other functions,” Mayor Byrne added.

Mayor Byrne said the new theatre and revitalised rooms will add another entertainment option for people enjoying a great night out in The Hills.

“There has been a real demand to bring more live entertainment to The Hills,” she added.

“And later this year, residents will be able to watch great shows performed and produced by leading theatre companies right in the middle of Castle Hill.

“It is very exciting to get this project off the ground and I can’t wait to see the finished product.”
