Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne has called the Local Business Welcome event, which took place on Thursday, May 30, a resounding success.

“The Hills is home to over 20,000 businesses that employ more than 80,000 people,” Mayor Byrne said.

“The turnout for last night’s Local Business Welcome event was massive, with over 200 local businesses registered to attend.

“49 per cent of those businesses were established in the last three years, proving how in demand events of this nature are,” Mayor Byrne added.

The welcome event is designed for those who have recently started a new local business, moved their business to The Hills district or have an existing business and are looking to connect with The Hills business community.

The night gave entrepreneurs, start-ups and small business owners the opportunity to network with other like-minded individuals and be introduced to Council's Economic Development Team, who can provide business support, direction and vital connections with government departments and key stakeholders.

“The Hills Shire Council is committed to working with new and existing businesses to help prepare them for the massive growth and change we will experience in the years ahead,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Our commercial and industrial centres are growing, and the Sydney Metro Northwest is connecting us to the rest of Sydney and bringing even more prosperity and opportunity to the region.

“It’s an exciting time to be a part of this vibrant and energetic business community that we have here in the Sydney Hills,” Mayor Byrne added.
