Progress continues to be made on the upgrade and widening of Hezlett Road.
Stage 1 of this project involves the section of road fronting North Kellyville Public School. This is a complicated section of work due to the volume and location of underground services, including water, telecommunications and gas, that need to be managed or relocated to maintain services.
A temporary lane has been constructed in front of the school to keep the road open for two-way traffic and allow the movement of heavy vehicles.
Over the coming weeks, unavoidable night works will take place to adjust and commission the new water main. Following this, traffic using the temporary lane will be switched to a newly constructed traffic lane.
Preliminary works have also begun to upgrade the intersection of Hezlett Road/Samantha Riley Drive/James Mileham Drive to prepare for the installation of traffic signals.
Temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented in this area based on construction requirements, including the removal of the roundabout at the intersection of Hezlett Road and Samantha Riley Drive.
A new temporary roundabout, which will be located in the northern portion of the intersection (towards the corner where the McDonald’s is located) will be in working order from Thursday. The placement of concrete barriers and line marking will also be carried out as part of this location of work. This will allow critical service utility relocations to commence.
Council thanks road users and residents for their patience and urges people to follow roadwork speed limits, observe directions from traffic controllers and be aware of changing conditions. Pedestrians are also advised to take care to avoid any trip hazards.
