As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to facility improvements, Council recently allocated funds towards the renewal of the existing skate park facilities in Balcombe Heights Estate.
This project will rehabilitate and add new elements to the existing skate park.
Council has commenced work on the Balcombe Heights Skate Park upgrade with the demolition of the existing skate park, after which construction of the new facility, including additional shade and seating, will commence.
The project is expected to be completed prior to the end of December 2018 (weather permitting).
The works will take place Monday to Saturday 7am to 5pm.
Please note - there will be no access to the skate park area during construction. The time required for this construction program means we are unable to avoid a closure during the October school holiday period. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during the construction period and thanks you for your cooperation.
An online community survey was undertaken from December 2017 to January 2018 immediately followed by an onsite consultation, with the community invited to provide their suggestions and ideas for improvements to the Balcombe Heights Skate Park. Three Preliminary concept designs were prepared by Oasis Skate Park Consultants to assist with the consultation.
Using the feedback from community members one design was selected. It was then refined to reflect the suggestions received. The aim was to incorporate as much of the feedback received as possible - mindful of both site constraints and available budget.
