Food Poisoning

Step 1.You need to supply the following information:

  • Your name, contact number and email address (anonymous complaints may not be able to be investigated as the complaint cannot be verified/further information cannot be obtained)
  • The date and time you consumed the suspected food
  • The name and address of the food business
  • The specific food that was consumed including sauces and dips
  • Details of any illness and symptoms including the length of time these were experienced.

Step 3.What happens next?

Council officers will investigate complaints. Where necessary they will take action to ensure compliance with the Food Act, 2003.

Council's role is to put in place the relevant food laws based on the evidence provided.

In respect of complaints this service does not extend to:

  • seeking compensation for food
  • any personal injury
  • to providing legal advice

Persons seeking compensation about a food complaint should speak to a solicitor.

Other Food Complaints

Step 1.Council can investigate other food complaints including:

  • Foreign matter found in food
  • Concerns regarding hygiene and handling of food 
  • Incorrect/inaccurate labelling

 

Step 2.You will need to provide:

  • Your name, contact number and email address (anonymous complaints may not be able to be investigated as the complaint cannot be verified/further information cannot be obtained).
  • The name and address of the food business
  • The date and time you witnessed the concerns or purchased the food product
  • Any photographs to support your complaint 

 

Step 3.Contact Council

Complaints can be made to Council via email council-publichealth@thehills.nsw.gov.au or via phone on 02 9843 0555.

 

Step 4.What happens next?

Council officers will investigate complaints. Where necessary they will take action to ensure compliance with the Food Act, 2003.
