Simplifying development for land on overland flowpath/watercourse

Submissions Close 08 November 2013

Changes to State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development) 2008 have required a review of the way that Council identifies and manages land located on or adjacent to an overland flowpath and/or a watercourse (otherwise defined as a flood control lot).

In response to these changes, Council has prepared draft amendments to The Hills Development Control Plan (DCP) 2012 and inserted Part C Section 6 - Flood Controlled Land to make it easier to identify and understand the requirements that apply to a particular development on this type of land.

Existing controls relating to residential development remain unchanged and are consolidated into draft Part C Section 6 of The Hills Development Control Plan (DCP) 2012. The draft Development Control Plan only applies to new development or the redevelopment of existing buildings on flood controlled land.

The draft Development Control Plan and associated mapping of flood controlled land can be viewed on this webpage.
