Application to become a member of The Hills Design Advisory Panel (FP274)

The Hills Shire Council is seeking applications from experts in the fields of architecture, urban design, landscape design and heritage to become members of the Design Advisory Panel.

The Design Advisory Panel is to evaluate and critique design aspects of proposed development throughout the Hills Shire, and provide recommendations on how the development can better achieve design excellence.

Council is seeking to engage panel members for the new term commencing January 2024.

Design Advisory Panel meetings will take place approximately once per calendar month.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated extensive experience within one or more of the following disciplines:
  • Architecture;
  • Landscape architecture;
  • and Urban design.
  • Suitably qualified so as to be eligible for membership with the relevant professional body
  • Demonstrated experience or relevant skills to provide expert panel advice, and willingness to liaise and prepare joint reports with other members of the panel in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to critically consider design elements to achieve favourable planning outcomes consistent with planning instruments and development controls
  • Demonstrated experience in residential apartment, mixed use and or commercial development, a comprehensive understanding of master planning on large sites and contemporary urban design practice that supports transitioning urban environments
  • Understanding of the existing values and desired development outcomes of the local area but does not currently undertake work on behalf of an applicant for a Development Application or Planning Proposal in The Hills Shire; and
  • Public liability insurance ($20 million), Professional Indemnity insurance ($5 million) and certificate of currency for workers compensation insurance.

 

This is a contract role with an initial 24 month term, with an option for 12 month extension.
