Upgrade Works Stage 1 Renown Rd Bridge over Darling Mills Creek, Baulkham Hills
The Hills Shire Council is committed to manage and maintain assets and infrastructure under Council’s control to meet the needs of our community and future generations.
The goals of the project are:
Renown Rd Bridge over darling Mills Creek, Baulkham Hills was identified in the capital works programme 2009-2010 to improve the safety of the bridge and road, including widening of bridge and road including break down bays to both travelling lanes and installation of concrete median barrier. The budget estimate for the whole of the works determined the requirement to deliver the project in stages. The first stage of the works will deliver the provision of breakdown bays and associated works, providing emergency facilities improving the safety for the community and motorists.
The work included for Stage 1 works comprises the following major activities:
- Widening of carriageway including construction of breakdown bays and associated works;
- Construction of retaining wall, southern break down bay;
- Stormwater upgrade works;
- Relocation of street lights
- Installation of guard rails;
- Pedestrian fencing;
The bridge deck widening including the pedestrian bolt on steel deck, pedestrian fencing, pavement adjustment and line marking form part of Stage 2 works.
Contract Information
Tenders were called for the Upgrade Works Stage 1 Renown Rd Bridge which closed on the 10 November 2010. Tender’s were reviewed with recommendation report forwarded to Council’s ordinary meeting held on the 14 December 2010. Council adopted the recommendation with the Stage 1 Upgrade Works awarded to Nicolson Earthworks Pty Ltd.
Construction works is due to commence in the later part of January 2011 with an anticipated construction period of 4 months excluding inclement weather.
Forthcoming Milestones
(Dates are dependant on weather conditions and are subject to change)
- Community and road user notification early January 2011
- Note: Works currently on hold due to Endeavour Energy lighting certification.
