THE HILLS LEP 2012 NOW IN FORCE
The State Government has made Council's new principal local environmental plan, The Hills LEP 2012. The plan was notified on the NSW legislation website on Friday 5 October 2012.
Our Plans
The Hills are growing and changing. By 2031, The Hills Shire will grow by 100,000 people, 36,000 dwellings will be built and 47,000 additional jobs provided.
To plan and manage this growth and change, and guide the preparation of Council’s new Local Environmental Plan, a Local Strategy and a suite of strategic work have been prepared. The Local Strategy is a landuse planning document to guide local planning and reflect the themes of the Hills 2026 Community Strategic Direction: Looking Towards the Future.
The Metropolitan Strategy ‘City of Cities A Plan for Sydney’s Future’ and the North West Subregional Strategy were released by the Department of Planning in December 2005 and December 2007, respectively. These documents outline the broad vision for the future planning of Sydney and the North West subregion to 2031. In December 2010, the Metropolitan Plan for Sydney 2036 was launched to shape the future growth of Australia's major global city. This publication follows a scheduled five year update of the 2005 Metropolitan Strategy.
The Local Strategy is the key document articulating Council’s response to the strategies and actions identified in the above plans, including those strategies and actions identified as the specific responsibility of local government.
