Cattai Ridge Road Bridge Replacement
The Hills Shire Council has completed a new bridge on Cattai Ridge Road which crosses over Cattai Creek near the border of Glenorie and Maraylya.
 |
| Before: The single lane timber bridge (June 2010) |
 |
| After: The completed bridge and new road alignment (March 2011) |
Details
The project has delivered a modern, durable, low maintenance concrete bridge. It is wider and higher than the old bridge, providing one full width lane in each direction which has removed the need to stop and give way to oncoming traffic. The connections to Hidden Valley Lane and Newman Road have also been upgraded.
The goals of the project were:
- To replace the aging timber bridge, which is nearing the end of its service life and presenting an ongoing maintenance challenge
- To provide a modest improvement to the operation of Cattai Ridge Road in flood conditions, and
- To improve the alignment of the first sharp bend to the north of the bridge.
Latest Update
The bridge and roadworks have been completed. The Mayor of the Hills Shire officially opened the bridge on Thursday 3rd March 2011.
Some minor landscaping works will be completed over the coming months.
