'A Sustainable World in the Hills' - Business Project

A Sustainable World in the Hills Business Project

‘People want to see companies doing the right thing. 87% say companies should tell people what they are doing about the environment, 68% are interested to know about a company’s environmental policy and 68% say they are more likely to trust a company that looks after the environment.’ - 17th Annual ‘Eye on Australia Report’ run by the Grey ad Agency.

Forward thinking businesses realise that sustainable practices can not only be cost effective, but financially attractive decisions. Managing energy, water and waste efficiently can result in a direct and immediate improvement n in the financial performance of a business.

The Hills Shire Council understands that small to medium businesses need assistance to identify and implement sustainable practices into their organisation. A Sustainable World in the Hills, a project funded by the NSW Environmental Trust, provides a business project officer, free of charge, to assist your business:

  • Identify energy, water and waste consumption that can be reduced through detailed audits.
  • Research & implement financially viable retrofits, upgrades and procedures.
  • Source grant funding to assist the implementation of sustainable practices and ensure the upgrades are as financially attractive as possible.

Consumers and suppliers are continually looking towards businesses that produce environmentally sensitive products or reduce their impact on the environment – ‘Green Businesses’. Incorporating sustainability within the workplace is not only a financially sound decision but is rapidly becoming a business tool and a marketplace advantage.

Implementing sustainable practices within your core business operations can improve your bottom line and provide you the promotional edge that your business needs.

Committed businesses who join the program and improve their environmental management practices will be recognised and endorsed by Council as being ‘Environmental Champions’ - a promotional business credential for your workplace.
